Togean Islands: heaven on earth

If you are tired of this constant bustle: phone calls, car noise, huge crowds of people, then it’s time to relax. Sometimes you want to be on a deserted island and just enjoy the world, without the extra benefits of civilization: in silence. There is such a desire? Then you urgently need to go to Indonesia. But now we are not talking about a popular holiday in Bali. We invite you to the Togean Islands.

These are tiny pieces of land lost in the waters of the Mollusk Sea. Located near the island of Sulawesi. There is no civilization familiar to us, a huge number of people, the Internet and various shops. This is a unique place for the most inspired.

It so happened that the most valuable thing in the world is well hidden: diamonds are hidden and protected at a depth of 200 km, pearls are at the bottom of very deep reservoirs in the sink. So this piece of paradise is also hidden from view.

There are several options for getting there. But all of them need to spend a lot of effort. You will have to make four flights, drive six hours to the small port town of Ampani, from there three hours by boat and here you are on the shore of Togian, in the village of Wakai, and there you can easily reach the place of residence by boat.

You can also fly to Manado, from there go to Georontalo and then by boat to the same village of Wakai. We need to be prepared for the fact that this is not the world in which we are used to living. Here are your laws. The timetable of the ships needs to be found out a little in advance, relying on someone’s experience is not worth it, because both routes and prices can change very often.

By the way, here you can buy a small island. Isn’t that a great birthday present? It does not catch mobile communications, there is no Internet, and generally electricians.

The archipelago of 118 islands has a total of 37 inhabited. And then on each of them there are not many inhabitants. It has several villages. Houses stand on stilts directly above the water. The lives of people are practically no different from their own lives several thousand years ago. Each has its own craft. Someone is fishing, someone is growing rice. And in the evenings, people get together, drink coconut milk and sing their songs. Nobody is in a hurry here. Their life, like one long day, is saturated with the smell of ginger and cloves.

By the way, the Togeans are a Muslim territory. But only mosques located in each locality speak of this. And for the rest, it’s very difficult to guess. It seems that these people do not care about religion at all.

The most favorite island for tourists is Kadidiri. It is divided between two small hotels. They even have a generator that turns on from 6pm to 12am. In addition, for communication with the mainland there is a tree on which it periodically catches a connection. A box with a phone hangs there, SMS comes from people who want to book a room.

The owners are trying to keep up with the modern world. So you can really pay for the services with a card. It is very simple. You inform the hostess, she takes the terminal, puts you in a boat and you sail away to the sea – look for the connection, and now – pay the price.

In fact, the rest here is very economical. On average, you spend $ 15 a day for room and board. Do not expect something exotic, the menu is mainly rice and fish. But you will try something interesting and unusual. Local moonshine made from palm juice is arak. Sweet pleasant alcohol.

There are many reasons to go here on vacation. Someone just wants to be alone with the soul. Someone wants to actively relax. Around the islands there are all kinds of reefs: coastal, barrier and atolls. Beautiful rich underwater world. An ideal place for diving enthusiasts. You can also swim with dugongs or dolphins, there are a lot of them and they really like people’s attention. Here you can go fishing and then cook the catch yourself. In addition, lovers of volcanoes and everything connected with them will be taken to the island of Una Una. On it 24 years ago was the eruption of the volcano Tsolo (the only one on the archipelago). So you can’t find a better place to look at the volcanic landscape. Entertainment will be for those who want to play Robinson Crusoe. Ask and you will be taken to a completely deserted island. This is a great opportunity to explore the jungle.

Togean Islands – a place where it is better to go in season. And no, the weather has nothing to do with it. It is always warm and comfortable here. The point is the number of vacationers. There are no public transports on the islands, the only option to take a walk somewhere is to rent a boat. The boat is quite expensive, so it is with the help of other vacationers that you can save by sharing the cost.

Togean Islands – a dream vacation. There is nothing better than a place where nature itself rules.
